October 26 at 7:30pm Free Screening of “MissRepresentation” Documentary
The film examines gender bias and the hypersexualized and demeaning images that women and girls face in the media today. A faculty led discussion will follow the screening.
The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival; audiences were riveted and Oprah Winfrey acquired its broadcast rights. Writer/Director Jennifer Siebel Newsom has interwoven stories from teenage girls along with provocative interviews from the likes of Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Lisa Ling, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Rosario Dawson, Dr. Jackson Katz, Dr. Jean Kilbourne, and Gloria Steinem to give us an inside look at the media and its message about women and girls today.
