Go Red For Women

Go Red For Women is the American Heart Association’s effort to harness the power of women to help them change their own lives, and the lives of their families.  Their mission, to end heart disease in women, encompasses our efforts not only to provide the needed research into this mysterious disease, but to also empower women to live a healthy lifestyle.  They do this by providing women the simple tools they need to get just a little bit healthier, like Life’s Simple 7 (www.mylifecheck.org), where you can get a personal evaluation of your health and how to improve it.

In Central Oklahoma, The American Heart Association funds over $4 million in research alone, and conducts health fairs, teaches CPR, and connects medical professionals to the latest scientific information to improve patient care.  Go Red For Women is a part of that, and our volunteers make that happen, though their efforts in our Circle of Red, on our Passion Team, or the Executive Leadership Team.

February is American Heart Month, and Go Red For Women kicks it off with Wear Red Day, where we ask people to wear red, main streets to light up the town in red, homeowners to make a display of paper red dresses in their yard, and offices to distribute health information to their employees.  Anyone can be a part of this day.  Learn how at www.wearredday.org.
